Eligibility requirements

When applying for our Rent to Buy plan, we’ll assess your driver profile, including your age, private hire driving experience, trips completed, penalty points and any fault accidents.

Eligibility can also vary depending on the vehicle you choose, such as a standard or premium model. We also have specific regional eligibility requirements depending on where you’re licensed to drive in the UK.

Please review the criteria carefully before enquiring or reserving a car. If you don’t meet the eligibility requirements, we won’t be able to approve your application.

Standard vehicles

Age: Minimum age of 27 years old (maximum 65 years old).
Experience: Minimum of 3 months of recent private hire driving experience or at least 500 completed trips.
Driving licence: Must have a UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years, with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
Insurance: Must have a maximum of 2 fault accidents in the last 3 years (no claims history may be required).
Convictions: No major driving offences (this is reviewed as part of your application).
Private hire driver licence: Must already hold a valid private hire driver licence and be registered with at least one licensed council in your region.

Driving licence: Must have a UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years, with a maximum of 3 penalty points.

Private hire driver licence: Must already hold a valid private hire driver licence and be registered with at least one licensed council in your region.
