How to reserve your car online

1) Find your car

Browse our full range of Uber-ready private hire vehicles (PHVs) and choose the one that fits your driving goals. 

 

Filter by location, plan type (Rent to Buy or PCO Car Hire), model, fuel type, weekly price, mileage and more.

2) Create an account

Once you’ve found your car, create an Otto Car account (or log in if you’re already registered). 

 

This gives you access to the Otto Car - Driver Portal, where you’ll manage everything in one place.

3) Reserve your car for £99

Reserve your chosen car with a £99 reservation fee. This £99 will be deducted from your total deposit or down payment. 

 

Once you reserve your car, we’ll hold it for 48 hours while you complete your application. After paying the reservation fee, you have 7 days - or until you receive the car (whichever comes first) - to cancel and receive a full refund.

How to complete your application online

1) Upload your documents

Now you've placed your reservation fee, log in to the Driver Portal and upload the documents we need to process your application. 

 

Please make sure you have your National Insurance (NI) number ready, and upload everything within 48 hours of reserving your car to avoid delays.

2) Application review

Once we’ve received all your documents, our team will review your application. You’ll usually hear back from us within 2 working days.

 

If anything’s missing or needs a quick update, we’ll get in touch and help you sort it out. You can also keep an eye on your application anytime in the Driver Portal.

3) Delivery or collection

Once your application is approved, one of our team will get in touch to arrange delivery or collection of your car. 

 

At this stage you’ll: 

  • Pay the remaining down payment or deposit balance (minus the £99 reservation fee)
  • Sign your contract
  • Get ready to drive and earn

What is the £99 car reservation fee and what does it cover?

The £99 reservation fee secures your chosen car exclusively for 48 hours, so no one else can reserve it while you complete your order.

By reserving online, you lock in the car’s plan, mileage, condition, and price, giving you time to finish the process without any changes or pressure. The rest of your order can then be completed quickly and smoothly.

This reservation option is available online only.

Is the £99 reservation fee part of my down payment for Rent to Buy?

Yes. The £99 reservation fee is not an extra cost - it is deducted from your overall down payment.

For example, if your standard down payment is £250 and you’ve already paid the £99 reservation fee online, you’ll only need to pay the remaining £151 when you sign your contract.

Is the £99 reservation fee part of my deposit for PCO Car Hire?

Yes. The £99 reservation fee is not an extra cost - it is deducted from your overall deposit.

For example, if your standard deposit is £200 and you’ve already paid the £99 reservation fee online, you’ll only need to pay the remaining £101 when you sign your contract.

When and how do I pay the reservation fee?

The £99 reservation fee is paid online during checkout on our website. To reserve a car, simply browse our ‘Find a car’ section, choose the car you want, and click the ‘Reserve for £99’ button.

You’ll then be guided through selecting your plan, confirming your car, and paying the reservation fee. At checkout, you’ll also be able to see your remaining balance of your down payment or deposit.

You'll then receive guidance on how to complete your application on the Otto Car - Driver Portal.

When do I pay the rest of my down payment or deposit?

You’ll pay the remaining balance of your down payment or deposit over the phone when our Sales Team contacts you to arrange collection or delivery.

Is the £99 reservation fee refundable?

Yes. The £99 reservation fee is refundable if you cancel your order within 7 days of paying the reservation fee or before your application has been approved.

A full refund will also be issued if your application cannot be approved following our checks, or if the required documents aren’t provided within the specified timeframes.

If you cancel after 7 days or your application has already been approved, the reservation fee is non-refundable.

What happens after I’ve paid the reservation fee?

Once you’ve paid the £99 reservation fee, you’ll be directed to the Otto Car - Driver Portal. Here, you’ll upload the documents required to complete your application.

After your application is submitted, our team will review it. We aim to get back to you within 2 working days, although this may take slightly longer as all applications are reviewed by real people.

You can track the status of your application in the Otto Car - Driver Portal at any time, or contact us if you have questions.

Once your application is approved, a member of our Sales Team will contact you to arrange the collection or delivery of your car, and collect the remaining balance of your down payment or deposit.

Does paying the reservation fee guarantee the car or that I will be accepted?

Paying the reservation fee reserves your car for 48 hours but it does not guarantee acceptance or confirm your application.

All drivers must still meet our eligibility criteria and complete the application process via the Otto Car - Driver Portal. We recommend reviewing the eligibility requirements before paying the reservation fee to avoid disappointment.

What happens if I cancel or don’t collect the car?

If you cancel your order within 7 days of paying the £99 reservation fee, a full refund will be issued within 3-5 business days. You’ll receive an email confirmation once the refund has been processed.

If you cancel your order or fail to collect or receive delivery of your car after 7 days, the £99 reservation fee is non-refundable.
