Gatwick drop off: How to pay the charge 2024
- The Otto Team
- July 19, 2022

PCO driving in London can cost you a fortune if you’re not aware of the Parking Charge Notice (PCN) hotspots.
Previously we’ve put together a guide to the London Heathrow Airport terminal drop off charge. As the Otto Team has noticed an increase in Gatwick PCNs, this time we’ll feature the London Gatwick Airport to help our private hire community avoid fines.
From the location of the drop off zones, and payment methods to alternative free car park drop off options, this post covers everything you need to know about the London Gatwick drop off charge.

How much is the Gatwick Airport drop off charge?
The Gatwick Airport terminal drop off charge is now a £6 fee (for 10 minutes) that applies to all vehicles dropping off passengers in both North and South Terminals at Gatwick.
Charges:
- £6 for 10 minutes
- £1 for each additional minute up to 20 minutes
- Maximum charge of £26 and the maximum length of stay 30 minutes
The terminal drop off charge is enforced via Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Where are the Gatwick drop off zone locations?
North Terminal drop off area:
The express pick-up areas can be found on Level 4 of Car Park 6.
South Terminal drop off area:
The express pick-up areas can be found on Level 0 of Car Park 3.
How to pay the Gatwick drop off charge?
You must pay the charge by midnight the day after the visit to drop off passengers at the forecourt.
Please note that the charge cannot be paid in the terminal drop off zones. It is only payable online, via AutoPay, or over the phone.
If you take a lot of Gatwick jobs as a PCO driver, visit the airport terminal’s page to create a personal AutoPay account to register your PCO car with Gatwick and set up auto pay.
What if I fail to pay the Gatwick drop off charge?
If you don’t pay for the Gatwick drop off charge by midnight the next day, you will receive a £100 PCN, which will be reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. Visit this link to pay a PCN online.
▶️ The Otto Team would like to remind you that we will not register your PCO car with Gatwick Airport on your behalf. This is your responsibility. If you do airport jobs regularly, please set up an AutoPay account to avoid unnecessary fines.

Are there any free drop off areas?
According to Gatwick, free drop offs are available at the Long Stay car parks (two hours free parking), where passengers can take a free shuttle bus to the terminals. Follow the signs for ‘North Terminal Long Stay’ or ‘South Terminal Long Stay’.
Find out more about Gatwick’s Long Stay car parks here.
Where can I go to pick up passengers at London Gatwick?
All pickups should take place in the Short Stay car parks. Alternatively you can park for free in the long stay car park for up to two hours.
Do private hire vehicles have discounts?
Unfortunately not. Private hire vehicles (PHVs) don’t have a discount from the terminal drop off charge. As a PCO driver, you need to pay the charge if you drop off in the terminal drop off zones.
However, if you’re a local resident (RH6 0, RH6 9, RH11 0), you could apply for your Local Commuter Scheme permit.
