What our customers have to say…

Frequently Asked Questions

Since 2018, Otto Car has helped thousands of PCO drivers make the switch to electric. We were among the first to offer electric private hire cars in the UK and continue to support Uber’s transition to EVs.

With our flexible, all-inclusive plans and a wide choice of electric PCO cars, you’ll find the right option to suit your needs. Most importantly, our experienced team will guide you every step of the way - from choosing the right car to planning your charging, whether at home or on the road.

The Clean Air Plan was designed to help Uber drivers switch to an electric PCO car easier and cheaper. Any Uber driver with unused EV Assistance can lower the weekly cost of renting or buying an electric car from a small number of approved Uber partners, such as Otto Car. If you're eligible, Uber will have fixed your EV Assistance to £3,000 after 31 Match 2025. You must claim before 30 September or face losing out on £3,000 worth of savings.

Eligible Uber drivers purchasing an electric PCO car can use the whole amount of the accumulated EV Assistance to reduce the weekly payments on their Rent to Buy contract. You have the choice to spread this throughout the contract or over the first 40 weeks depending on the PCO car (see car page price box for details and options). Please note, this cannot be used towards the initial down payment and can only be used once.

If renting an EV, drivers can claim £300 of EV Assistance towards a 4-week PCO Car Hire contract. This equals a £75 per week discount (as shown on our PCO Car Hire vehicle pages). Please be aware that once your EV Assistance runs out, you’ll have to adapt to paying your weekly payments to Otto Car without the EV Assistance.

Normally, you'd need to have taken 150 trips to become eligible to claim but as of July 2025, Uber have announced a new Early Lifecycle (ELC) EV Assistance which means eligible drivers can claim straight away rather than waiting. For new drivers to be immediately eligible, then they will have needed to have demonstrated strong EV intent by engaging in one of the following Uber EV education touch points:

- Attended a GoElectric Session
- Had a 1:1 session with an EV Expert
- Participated in the Ignition Funnel (e.g., video chats, in-person visits).

Additionally, you'll need to sign up to a minimum of 8 weeks on PCO Car Hire to become eligible (current minimum is 4 weeks).

Yes. Uber partner drivers with EV Assistance must claim before 30 September 2025 to claim a fixed £3,000 by upgrading to an EV. After this date, all eligible Uber Partners will lose their EV Assistance.

Uber is aiming to make sure every Uber car in London is fully electric by 2025. Please note, Uber doesn’t have any confirmed plans to put restrictions on petrol, diesel and hybrid cars on the platform.

Those who drive an EV get access to a special tier called Uber Green, and they can also get £750 charging credits with bp pulse (limited offer from the Uber PowerUp initiative), keep the £1.50 Central London fee, Uber Pro bonus points for EV trips + a whole load more benefits
