Meet our Hackney Hub Manager Kevin
Our Hackney hub has been with us for more than a year already. There’s never been a better time to speak to Kevin, our Hackney Hub Manager, as he shares his unforgettable experiences with PCO drivers and the best things to do around the local area in Hackney.
How long have you been with Otto Car?
I’ve been with Otto Car since September 2021, so it’s over one year. Time flies!
Have you been in the automotive industry the whole time?
The funny thing is, I’ve never really worked in the motor industry before.
After graduating in Business Management, I ran my own salon for a few years, and then moved around various jobs, such as customer service and fashion. Last year, I was given this amazing opportunity and I took it straight away.

How has the hub changed?
Overall speaking I don’t think it’s changed so much. It is becoming more established – from a brand new hub that drivers barely knew it existed to a lot of drivers coming down for enquiries.
What is it like to be the Hackney hub manager?
I’ve always thought I’m not a sales agent – but more like a consultant.
This is where I listen to the drivers. I got time here to have some one-to-one conversations to find out what they truly need, and determine the best product for them based on their situation. I give them my undivided attention. No one in this world matters as soon as they come in – it’s just me and that person.
What are the most common driver enquiries or requests?
Drivers generally come down to the hub for Rent 2 Buy + enquiries – Part-Exchange and AfterCare as well.
They don’t always know what our plans are, and I give them as much information about who we are and what we do. When they suddenly find out the benefits of our PCO car ownership plans – and what’s included in the package, they’re shocked and can’t believe it!
Those are music to their ears, and I’m happy to make it happen.
Any unforgettable experience so far?
When it comes to unforgettable experiences, it has to be the smile on their face. Seriously when they sign their contract and they know they’re getting a PCO car, you can literally tell how happy they are.
The best customers are those who bring their friends – that means I don’t just make them happy, but also the second person. By just watching them smile, knowing that their life starts now with this new car makes me happy. New cars aren’t just new cars. This is their source of income, but they can also take them on the weekends with their family and friends.
So where can we find the best food/entertainment in Hackney?
Trust me – I can tell you everything. First off there’s a famous kimchi shop (SHED Kingsland) just at the corner of the street. They make the best kimchi there! You can either buy a jar, or try their sandwich with kimchi which I would strongly recommend. You’ve also got a whiskey bar (MAP Maison) just across the street, and a jazz bar in Dalston (Vortex), which are both pretty cool. Just remember, don’t drive when you drink.
These are just some of my personal favourites. This is Kingsland, the main road of the Shoreditch area where you can find literally everything within walking distance. That’s what’s great about this hub. Go further and you can reach Dalston and Liverpool Street.

What advice would you give to our Otto drivers?
Well I would say… Don’t work too hard over the Christmas Period. I know what drivers are like. They work hard, but sometimes they work too hard, which can bring risks to themselves. Everybody deserves a rest.
How about rental drivers?
Invest some time in Career Boost. It’s a new thing that we’re doing which is unique to Otto Car. I mean it’s worth looking into it if you consider PCO driving as a long-term career for you.
